PHE to hold AMR pharmacy campaign webinar

PHE to hold AMR pharmacy campaign webinar

August 22, 2019

Public Health England (PHE) invites community pharmacy teams from across England to join a webinar about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) next week.

This online event, being held on Thursday 29th August at 7.30pm, will help your pharmacy to make the most of the upcoming AMR campaign (which runs from 1st-30th September 2019). Participation in September’s campaign is mandatory for community pharmacies as part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF).

Hosted by Dr Diane Ashiru-Oredope (Lead Pharmacist in the Healthcare-Associated Infections and AMR Division of PHE), the webinar aims to support pharmacy teams to:

  • understand what AMR is and why it is important;
  • understand what you can do to help stop the spread of AMR;
  • recognise when a patient may have a self-liming infection;
  • improve your confidence in giving advice to patients about self-care and when not to take antibiotics; and
  • prepare you pharmacy to make the most of the ‘Keep Antibiotics Working’ campaign.

PHE is also offering a certificate of completion for all those who complete a short set of questions before and after the webinar.

A recording of this presentation will be made available for those who are unable to attend the live version.

Campaign resources

Campaign resource packs are currently being distributed but if contractors have not received their packs by 27th August 2019, they should email: stating the pharmacy name, address and name of the campaign they have not received materials for.

Social media and digital resources for the campaigns will also be available on PHE’s Campaign Resource Centre closer to the start date of the campaigns; contractors are encouraged to use these resources if possible with the hashtag #PharmaciesKeepAntibioticsWorking.
