PSNC East Midlands and South Yorkshire Regional Representative Election
PSNC will shortly begin formal processes to seek a new East Midlands and South Yorkshire Regional Representative following the resignation of Garry Myers from the Committee today (17th May 2021).
A representative of independent contractors in the following LPC areas will be sought:
- Barnsley LPC
- Derbyshire LPC
- Doncaster LPC
- Leicestershire & Rutland LPC
- Lincolnshire LPC
- Nottinghamshire LPC
- Rotherham LPC
- Sheffield LPC
Eligible independent contractors from these LPC areas will be invited to express their interest in the role and then, if an election is triggered, to vote to select their new Regional Representative in due course: PSNC will issue a full briefing on this process.
The new Regional Representative will then hold the position until the end of the current term for all Regional Representatives.
Garry’s resignation follows 16 years as a PSNC Member and it will trigger a number of processes at PSNC including the selection of a new independent member of the Negotiating Team to join existing independent members Bharat Patel and Gary Warner.
Further information, including details about the role of Regional Representative, the election process, actions required for those seeking to stand for election and timescales, will be shared with the relevant LPCs and contractors in due course.
In the meantime, any contractors or LPCs in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire region needing assistance should contact PSNC Director of Contractor and LPC Support, James Wood.
Simon Dukes, PSNC CEO, said:
“The PSNC Regional Representatives play a critical role in ensuring that the voice of independent contractors is at the heart of all PSNC decision-making. As a Committee we are unique within community pharmacy as retaining a 50:50 split of independent and multiple members, meaning that all parts of the sector have a say in our work and decisions. We look forward to continuing to work with LPCs and contractors in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire Region, including via our new Regional Representative in due course.
We thank Garry for his contributions to PSNC and for all his work to represent the independent contractors in his region. Over an impressive 16 years as a Regional Representative he has been a tireless member of many important PSNC subcommittees and working groups, and in all arenas he has been a passionate advocate for the more clinical future for the sector that we all want to get to. We wish him well.”
