PSNC publishes 2021/22 annual report

PSNC has today published its 2021/22 annual report, setting out the work that it did on behalf of community pharmacy contractors in the previous financial year.
The report covers the key achievements and ongoing projects that PSNC worked on, including reaching a deal for reimbursement of contractors’ COVID costs and work to develop the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF).
Throughout 2021/22 PSNC worked hard to support England’s network of community pharmacies, including pushing for measures to help pharmacy teams balance their winter workload, and capturing a range of evidence to help campaign for additional financial support for the sector.
The annual report covers the year from April 2021, with key topics including:
- Supporting pharmacy;
- Calling for investment;
- Strengthening our evidence base;
- Preparing for the future; and
- PSNC’s annual accounts.
As well as providing details of the work PSNC carried out in 2021/22, the report ends with a look at our plans for the future as we set out our priorities for the short, medium and longer term. These make reference to looking beyond the end of the 5-year CPCF deal and the Transforming Pharmacy Representation (TAPR) programme of work.

“Whilst I only took up the helm at PSNC in March 2022, straightaway I got a good sense of the critical challenges facing the sector, and how hard PSNC had been working with contractors to address them. This was confirmed as the results of both the Pharmacy Advice Audit and the Pressures Survey landed on my desk, along with PSNC’s bids for funding and a walk-in service. I could immediately see the importance of community pharmacy teams but also the intolerable strain that a lack of funding and capacity was putting on them. This mountain of evidence was immensely valuable as we were launching into negotiations on the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF).
I hope this report gives you a flavour of some of the work, much of it unseen, which goes on behind the scenes here. PSNC has a small but very expert team all of whom work closely with the contractors who are the PSNC Committee on behalf of all community pharmacy contractors. Over the next year we hope to have better news to report to you as we continue to strive to help the sector, and I personally look forward to meeting more of you and to working more collaboratively and openly with all of you as we progress our wider TAPR work.”
