Supply Disruption Alert: Salazopyrin® (sulfasalazine) 500mg suppositories – Update

Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply disruption alert for Salazopyrin® (sulfasalazine) 500mg suppositories.

Alert reference: SDA/2020/008

There is a supply issue affecting Salazopyrin® 500mg suppositories due to an increase in demand seen by the sole supplier, Pfizer.

  • Salazopyrin® (sulfasalazine) 500mg suppositories will be out of stock until week commencing 1st June 2020.
  • Limited supplies of Salofalk® (mesalazine) 500mg suppositories will be available week commencing 18th May 2020.
  • Pentasa® (mesalazine) 1g suppositories remain available during this period.
