Upcoming RPS inclusion and diversity events

At the Annual LPC Conference in September, PSNC invited the Head of Professional Belonging at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), Amandeep Doll, to give the attending LPC Chief Officers, Chairs and Members a presentation about the importance of inclusion and diversity to the pharmacy profession and patients, what an inclusive and diverse environment looks like in practice, and the practical steps the RPS is taking to encourage inclusion and diversity within the sector. Valuing Difference and Inclusive Behaviour in Local Leadership (Slide Deck)

The RPS will be running several virtual inclusion and diversity events over the course of October and November 2021. The details about these events are listed below:

Celebrating Black History Month: Proud To Be (Wednesday 20th October 2021, 7pm-8.00pm)

Join representatives from RPS and Pharmacy Technicians of Colour for an evening of celebration for Black History Month. During the evening, Dr Joan Myers and additional guest speakers will discuss this year’s theme for Black History Month ‘Proud to be’. The aim of the meeting is to celebrate the diversity of black communities in the UK and in particular, pharmacy.

Putting your RPS Inclusion and Wellbeing Pledge into Action (Tuesday 16th November 2021, 7pm-8.30pm)

This virtual event will discuss what actions can be taken by individuals, teams and organisations that have signed the RPS Inclusion and Wellbeing Pledge to prioritise inclusion, diversity and wellbeing.

Driving equality for women in pharmacy (Friday 19th November 2021, 10am-1.30pm)

This virtual event will discuss the importance of intersectionality to achieve gender equality across all groups within the pharmacy profession. Over the course of the event, attendees will:

  • Take part in panel discussions
  • Attend interactive workshops to support your learning and development
  • Develop tools and inspiration for your next step of your leadership journey
  • Gain inspiration and motivation from guests and experts
  • Have the opportunity to network with peers and colleagues across pharmacy

If you would like to get more involved in the RPS’ work to make inclusion and diversity central to the pharmacy profession, then you are encouraged to join the RPS Action in Belonging, Culture and Diversity (ABCD) group. This group is open to anyone who works in pharmacy, irrespective of RPS membership, and meets via Zoom every two months to discuss how diversity and inclusion can be improved in the profession.
