How can you help?

The Government’s decision to impose a new funding package on community pharmacy is extremely disappointing news, particularly given the incredible efforts that have gone into securing the recent national media and Parliamentary coverage.

The imposition followed PSNC’s rejection of the Department of Health’s proposals and Chief Executive Sue Sharpe has stressed that PSNC is “very concerned about the impact that this will have on patients”. PSNC is now pursuing a Judicial Review.

PSNC and the other national pharmacy organisations are continuing to work to ensure that the media and politicians are aware of the imposition and the ongoing concerns about community pharmacy. Find out more about what PSNC is doing here.

The campaign

Following the Government imposing a two-year funding package on community pharmacy, PSNC will be going through the announcement and impact assessment in more detail and working with the other pharmacy organisations to develop more detailed plans for the next phase of our campaign for community pharmacy, but for now you may like to consider the following actions:

  1. Tweet the link to the Government imposition announcement on the PSNC website, perhaps using our template tweets to engage local politicians.
  1. Continue to highlight the results of the recent PwC report on the value of community pharmacy services using our infographic.
  1. Send your case studies about how your pharmacy is helping your local community and how it may be affected by cuts to your LPC or See our campaigning guidance for contractors for more help and information.
  1. Show your support by adding this promotional piece to your email signature.
  1. Ask your LPC if they are organising any local events that you could be a part of.
  1. If you haven’t done so already, write a personalised letter to your MP setting out your concerns. Our key campaign messages and our community pharmacy value flyer will help you with this. Alternatively, you may wish to use the NPA’s lobbying tool, available from
  1. If you receive any requests for media comments, please speak to your LPC in the first instance.
  1. Let us know about any media or MP successes you have by emailing
