CPCS – Funding and claiming payment

CPCS – Funding and claiming payment

When a pharmacy provides the CPCS, they can claim a £14 fee per completed consultation.

This payment model will be reviewed for 2021/22 onwards, depending on factors such as volume of service.

The anticipated funding profile for the initial (NHS 111 referral) service is:

2019/20 2020/21 2021/22 2022/23 2023/24
£4 million £9 million £13 million £16 million £19 million

GP referral pathway – Engagement and setup payment

Contractors registered to provide the CPCS will be able to claim via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal a £300 engagement and setup payment if they undertake a range of actions to get ready for rolling out the GP referral pathway in their area. The requirements are detailed in Annex F of the updated service specification.

Claiming payment for the service

All payments must be claimed via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal; no paper-based claims process is available for the service.

The CPCS IT system (Sonar or PharmOutcomes) will be able to pre-populate claim information in MYS each month, so that the contractor then just needs to login to MYS at the start of the following month to confirm that the information is correct and to submit the claim.

Post-payment verification (PPV) process

NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) is responsible for monitoring the provision of Advanced Services by contractors and they have a duty to assure themselves of the quality and probity of activity provided under the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework; PPV is one way in which they undertake this monitoring.

The NHSBSA Provider Assurance team undertake PPV on behalf of NHSE&I.
