Dispensing Medicines

Pharmacies are required to maintain a record of all medicines dispensed, and also keep records of any interventions made which they judge to be significant.

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is also being implemented as part of the dispensing service.

Distribution of the British National Formulary (BNF) NICE  is responsible for distribution of hard copies of the BNF and BNFC to community pharmacies and other healthcare professionals. Pharmacies with one pharmacist registered on the NICE database will receive a single copy of BNF/BNFc, and pharmacies with two or more registered pharmacists will receive two copies of BNF/BNFc. Any community pharmacies that don’t receive copies of the BNF/BNFC should email BNF@Binleys.com or phone 01268 495 609 to ensure they have at least one pharmacist registered on the NICE database in order to receive future copies.
