Resources to assist with finding local data

  • Public Health England – Health Profiles: This tool provides a snapshot of health and wellbeing across each local authority in England as portrayed by a range of indicators. They are intended to stimulate discussion between local government and health service providers by highlighting local needs and providing comparisons with other areas as well as with the national average
  • Public Health England (PHE) – Sexual and Reproductive Health Profiles: This tool contains interactive maps, charts and tables to provide a snapshot and trends across a range of topics including teenage pregnancy, abortions, contraception, HIV, sexually transmitted infections and sexual offences. Wider influences on sexual health such as alcohol use, and other topics particularly relating to teenage conceptions such as education and deprivation level, are also included

Campaign/event tips

  • Use this campaign/event as an opportunity to highlight the available sexual health services available in the pharmacy such as condom distribution, chlamydia tests and treatments, or provision of emergency hormonal contraception via Patient Group Direction
  • Consider using your web or social media presence (if you have once) to highlight your campaign – this could be particularly helpful in engaging with young people
  • Create your own referrals list of local STI testing sites/GUM clinics and display this as part your campaign materials
