MP ANGELA SMITH PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY PHARMACY

October 19, 2017

Angela Smith, MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge, visited Well Pharmacy in Grenoside last week to better understand the role community pharmacy plays in the area’s healthcare system.

David Russell, Pharmacy Manager at Well Grenoside, and CPS Chairman, said: “My team and I were absolutely delighted that Angela took the time to visit our pharmacy.  Angela witnessed how much our loyal customers value the care and health advice we give them day-in-day-out, and saw the high level of demand for prescriptions and our services, like flu vaccination, smoking cessation, and minor ailments. Without sufficient funding for community pharmacy, our patients will suffer and even more pressure will be put on the NHS”.

Angela Smith commented: ““It was a pleasure to visit Well Pharmacy Grenoside and see first-hand the important role community pharmacy plays in improving the health of customers. It was also enlightening to hear about some of the proposed changes to community pharmacy that could negatively impact their ability to perform this vital role.  The local community needs easy access to the services these pharmacies deliver, and we all need to do everything we can to support them and protect their future”.
