GPhC Inspection Information

You may be aware that the GPhC are using a new inspection model over recent months. In recent years these visits have focussed on Controlled Drugs and have been relatively brief. The new style visits are very different, focussing on the premises standards and take much longer (the site states around 2 hours but reports of up to 5 hours have been given). During the visit the inspectors will ask questions of the whole team as well as looking at record keeping and discussing matters with Pharmacists and Managers. The pharmacy will receive a measure of performance that will be either ‘poor, satisfactory, good or excellent’ and from April 2014 this will be published on the GPhC website for 3 years. We recommend strongly that contractors familiarise themselves with the available resources to prepare for their next visit. Notice will be given that a visit is due, but will not confirm which day the visit will take place. Resources and links are below:
