Learning from the PrOVIDE research project

Michael Bowen, Director of Research at the College of Optometrists, led the PrOVIDe research project, which gathered data on the prevalence of visual impairment among people living with dementia in England. The project involved collaboration with professionals and family carers and people with dementia, with input from primary care, and other key partners. The hands on learning from this project will enhance the Dementia Friendly training that many professionals will have already undertaken.

Strategic partnership support for dementia patients and carers

Zena Aldridge, a registered mental health nurse, was Admiral Nurse Lead in Norfolk from 2013, developing the “Norfolk Model” – a tiered service model to support families affected by dementia. As Senior Admiral Nurse Consultant with Dementia UK since 2016, Zena is responsible for identifying and developing strategic partnerships with senior health and care influencers in Norfolk and Suffolk. Her presentation will include scenarios which illustrate how staff in primary care settings might support the needs of both patient and carer.

Plenary session and next steps

The LPN Chairs and guest speakers will lead a Q + A session and explain how the learning from the event will be captured and shared.
