Talk about Cancer – Training Opportunities

Early diagnosis is extremely important in the fight to cure cancer and the ability to talk about it without feeling embarrassed or awkward is key.

On-line training

Cancer Research UK have developed an Online training package dedicated to communicating with your customers. It teaches you

  • how to have simple and effective conversations with customers relating to cancer
  • how to help your customers make healthy lifestyle choices
  • how to encourage them to access local services
  • and importantly, how to encourage them to visit their GP promptly if they notice changes to their body.

The training is led by Cancer Awareness Trainers at Cancer Research UK.

  • It is a free online course over 3 weeks
  • for 1 hour per week.
  • You can currently register interest for new course dates
  • Certificates are available. (chargeable)
  • It is suitable for any member of staff
  • No previous experience required
  • Open to any Pharmacy

Face to face training 2019/20

Suffolk LPC are pleased to be offering another 4 Talk Cancer courses to pharmacy teams.

Delivered by Cancer Research UK trainers with a nursing background.

Who is the training for?

All members of the pharmacy team are welcome to attend the event. We have a maximum of 50 places per session which will be reserved on a first come first served basis.

What is Talk Cancer?

The workshops equip and empower you to raise cancer awareness in your community by:

  • Increasing your knowledge of key messages around cancer prevention, screening and early diagnosis
  • Building your confidence to talk to the public about cancer
  • Helping you to encourage people to make lifestyle changes, access local services and visit their GP promptly with any concerns
