PSNC CPCF Support

We encourage all contractors to sign up to PSNC e-newsletters to help to prepare for ongoing changes (psnc.org.uk/latest-news/email-sign-up/).

Complete the dementia friendly environment checklist and action plan – The checklist and action plan is available as Annex 11 in the NHS England and NHS Improvement Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) guidance. PSNC has made available a standalone version of the document (available as a Word document or PDF). Further information on this quality criterion can be found at psnc.org.uk/pqsdfchecklist

CPCS: are you service ready? – The CPCS Toolkit, available to download from the NHSBSA website, includes the key information and resources that pharmacy teams need to get ready to deliver the service. Once the service starts, all payments must be claimed via the NHSBSA Manage Your Service (MYS) portal; no paper-based claims process is available.

Check the weekly NHS Digital SCR report – NHS Digital publishes a weekly spreadsheet of SCR viewing figures for community pharmacy. In order to meet the quality criterion, contractors must demonstrate access to the SCR between 00:00 on 1st October 2019 and the day of their declaration. If a contractor believes that they have accessed the SCR and it is not included in the published data, they should contact scrpharmacy@nhs.net.

Start working towards the risk review – PSNC has worked with the Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group to produce the resource, Pharmacy Quality Scheme – completing the risk review, which provides contractors with information on what they need to do to meet the quality criterion as well as worked examples of the risk review templates. Further information can be found atpsnc.org.uk/pqsriskreview

Start working on your new patient safety report – PSNC has worked with the Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group to produce the reosurce, Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) – Completing the Patient Safety Report, which provides contractors with information on what they need to do to meet the quality criterion, as well as worked examples of the monthly and annual patient safety report templates. Further information on how to meet this quality criterion can be found at: psnc.org.uk/pqspatientsafetyreport

Fluoxetine SSP

On 3rd October 2019 it was announced that the Secretary of State had authorised three Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) to help manage the supply of some formulations of Fluoxetine. The SSPs for fluoxetine 30mg capsules and 40mg capsules have been extended:

SSP Current expiry date
SSP02: Fluoxetine 30mg capsules This SSP has been varied – the revised end date is now 20th November 2019
SSP03: Fluoxetine 40mg capsules This SSP has been varied – the revised end date is now 11th November 2019

These expiry dates may be brought forward or extended, and the content may be amended throughout this period. Pharmacists should ensure they are using the current version of an SSP before supplying an alternative product.

Current versions of SSPs can be found at: www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/pharmacies-gp-practices-andappliance-contractors/serious-shortage-protocols-ssps
